It’s green season, and I don’t mean repairing the planet
“It’s the most dieting time of the year.”
By Mary MacVean
I just couldn’t help myself. Even though my family doesn’t celebrate Christmas, I love the songs, and today — five days into the annual dieting season, I couldn’t get out of my head “It’s the Most Wonderful Time of the Year,” from 1963 and sung by many. Though not quite like this:
It’s the most dieting time of the year,
With rice cakes a crumbling
And everyone telling you drink less of beer,
It’s the most dieting time of the year,
It’s the green-green-iest season of all
With those kales and mizunas and little gem salads
No dressing at all,
It’s the green-green-iest season of all
There’ll be dry-dry chicken breasts,
Saying no to all the rest
And temptation wherever you go.
Share your dieting stories
And tales of the glories of
Dieting long long ago
It’s the most dieting time of the year.
OK, OK, enough.
